Exercise 3 — Tomorrow's mock test prep

Before tomorrow
  • Sleep. 7–8 hours minimum. Writing under pressure burns mental fuel fast.
  • Eat. Real food. 60 minutes of essay writing is harder than it sounds.
  • Bring: two black-ink pens, a pencil for planning, water.
  • Plan your time: 20 min Task 1 + 40 min Task 2 = 60 min. Don't spend 30 min on Task 1.

Tick which strategies you'll actually use tomorrow.

  1. I'll do Task 1 first, even though Task 2 is worth more (because doing the easier one first builds momentum).
  2. I'll write a paraphrased intro, not a copied one.
  3. Task 1: I'll include an overview that starts with "Overall,"
  4. Task 2: I'll spend 3–5 min planning before I write.
  5. I'll use TEEL for every body paragraph (Topic → Explanation → Example → Link).
  6. I'll use at least 5 different linking words across the essay.
  7. I'll count my words at the end — 150+ for Task 1, 250+ for Task 2.
  8. I'll leave 2 minutes at the end of each task to check for grammar errors.
