General Training — free practice
If you are taking IELTS General Training (usually for work or migration), your Listening and Speaking tests are identical to Academic — but Reading and Writing are not. GT Reading uses notices, advertisements and workplace documents in three sections; GT Writing Task 1 is a letter, not a chart description. Everything below is GT-specific. Start with your own course pages, then use the official material.
General Training Reading uses a stricter raw-score scale than Academic, because the texts are easier. 34 correct out of 40 is band 7, where 30 would be enough on Academic; 30 is only a band 6. Most free practice sites score reading on the Academic scale by default. If yours does, it is telling you that you are up to a full band higher than you are.

One. Ignore any site that scores your GT reading on the Academic scale — it will flatter you by roughly half a band to a full band. Use the table on your GT start page instead.
Two. Listening and Speaking are exactly the same test as Academic, so every Listening and Speaking resource elsewhere on this page is fully usable for you. Do not go looking for “GT listening practice” — there is no such thing.

How to use this sheet: Work top-to-bottom. Take one official practice test (Section 1) to find your starting level, drill weak skills with Sections 2–5, then book the real exam in NPR via Section 6 when you're ready. General Training candidates: read Section 3 first — two of your four papers are the same as Academic, and two are not. Tip: pair every video you watch with active practice — writing, speaking aloud or reviewing mistakes.
