A Formal Application Letter
What you'll do tonight
- Twenty minutes. Plan for three, write for fifteen, check for two.
- This is a formal letter — no name is given, so Dear Sir or Madam and Yours faithfully.
- Resist writing a CV. Do not list your qualifications in bullet form or in a single long sentence; put each bullet point in its own paragraph and explain.
- AI feedback, then submit by email.
You are allowed — expected — to invent the details. A fictional job, fictional experience, a fictional date. The examiner is not checking whether it is true. What they are checking is whether it is specific, because specificity is what turns a covered bullet into a developed one.
You have seen an advertisement for a part-time position at a local organisation, and you would like to apply. Write a letter to the organisation.
In your letter:
- say which position you are applying for and where you saw it advertised
- describe the relevant experience and skills you have
- explain when you would be available to start and to work
You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter Dear Sir or Madam. Write at least 150 words.

Two things: press Get AI Evaluation on each task so you can see your indicative bands, and then Submit by email so your teacher has the script. The AI does not replace your teacher — it just means you get a first read within a minute instead of within a week.
