Rework the Mock

What you'll do tonight

This is the most valuable half-hour of the module, and it is the one most students skip. Do not skip it.

  1. Reopen the mock and go to your wrong answers. Do not look at the answer key yet.
  2. Find the answer yourself. For each one, go back into the text and locate the sentence that contains it. Write down where it was — section and paragraph.
  3. Only then check the key.
  4. For each wrong answer, write one sentence: where it was, and why I missed it. "Paragraph D, second sentence — I was scanning for 'cheap' and the text said 'not expensive at all'."
  5. Submit the list by email.
Why find it yourself first

Reading the answer key teaches you the answer. Finding the answer yourself teaches you the search — which is the thing you will need again next Thursday, when the text is one you have never seen.

Your rework list

For every question you got wrong: the question number, where the answer actually was (section and paragraph), and one sentence on why you missed it. Then finish with two sentences: which error category was biggest, and the one specific thing you will do differently in your next timed paper.
